Coronavirus News Updates from States and UTs covering developments during  last 24 hours 

Punjab: Amid spiralling cases of Covid, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced his government’s decision to continue with restrictions in urban areas, including weekend lockdown in all the 167 municipal towns of the state, along with 7 p.m.-5 a.m. curfew in all cities till the end of September. There will be total curfew on Saturdays and Sundays in the municipal limits, while movement of individuals for all non-essential activities shall remain prohibited between 7:00 pm to 5:00 am within municipal limits of all the cities of Punjab throughout the week, as per the orders of the Chief Minister.
Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister said that people needed to be more cautious about the corona virus, as during the rainy season the cases of corona positive were rising at a faster pace during the last few days. He urged the people to use face masks while going out in public places and also regularly wash hands with soap to check spread of this virus.
Arunachal Pradesh: In Arunachal Pradesh, 78 more people tested positive for COVID-19 and 1220 active cases in the state.
Assam: In Assam, 3266 more people tested positive for COVID-19 and 1531 people discharged on Monday. Total cases rise to 109040, discharged 85458, active 23273 and 306 deaths.
Manipur: In Manipur, 140 more people tested COVID-19 positive and 1894 active cases. There were 91 recoveries with 69% recovery rate.
Meghalaya: Even as the Ministry of Home Affairs is miffed with Meghalaya government for not lifting ban on unhindered entry of people, Deputy Chief Minister PrestoneTynsong has defended the stand saying that protection of local populace from COVID pandemic weighed supreme.Without sounding too confrontationist, Tynsong said, “We are not defying the orders of the Home Ministry, but some regulations had become imperative to contain spread of the virus.”
Mizoram: In Mizoram, total COVID-19 cases 1012 and active cases 423.Consequent upon West Bengal's state-wide lockdown to be observed on 7.9.2020, 11.9.2O2O & I2.9.2O2O which includes the airports, LengpuiAirport of Mizoram shall be opened for commercial passenger airlines on 8.9.2020 & 9.9.2O2O instead of 7.9.2O2O & 12.9.2O2O as a one-time modification.
Nagaland: Nagaland govt lifts restrictions on inter & intra-state movement from today. Lockdown to continue in containment areas till Sept 30. Nagaland has 3950 positive cases and of these security forces account for 1692 cases, returness 1260, traced contacts 715 & frontline workers 283.
Sikkim: In Sikkim, 18 more people tested positive for COVID-19, discharged 1237 and active cases 414.
Kerala: Seven more persons succumbed to Covid-19 in the State today. The fatalities were reported from Kollam, Kozhikode, Kannur and Malappuram districts, bringing the death toll to 301. The number of policemen contracting the virus in the capital has also gone up. JEE exam was held in the state in 13 centers today by abiding Covid protocols. Three members of a Malayali family hailing from Kollam, died of Covid -19 while undergoing treatment in Odisha. 1,530 persons in the State were confirmed of Covid-19 yesterday. At present 23,488 patients are undergoing treatment and 1,98,843 people under observation in various districts.
Tamil Nadu: 363 Covid cases and 12 deaths were reported in Puducherry in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 14,766, active cases to 4851, and total deaths to 240. New guidelines issued for 'Unlock 4' in Puducherry: All shops, establishments, hotels (including dining in) and private offices would function from 6 a.m to 8 p.m; liquor shops to open as per the licensing conditions and close by 8 p.m. Tamil Nadu unveils new quarantine protocol: Mandatory tests for foreign travellers, home isolation for asymptomatic domestic passengers; the State has made the use of thermal scanners, masks and hand sanitisers mandatory at parks, malls and places of worship.
Karnataka: Ahead of Karnataka legislature session, Covid-negative certificate may be must for lawmakers. Media reports that, to avoid crowding at VidhanaSoudha, the public will not be allowed to witness the session this time. In Mysuru, as many as 470 police personnel have been infected with Covid-19 since its outbreak.
Andhra Pradesh:JEE Mains for admission to IITs held in 52 centres across Andhra Pradesh today. As many as 82,748 candidates are appearing for the exam and elaborate arrangements were made at all exam centres. Municipal Corporation of Tirupati has relaxed all lockdown restrictions following the latest Government of India Unlock 4.0 guidelines. As per the new guidelines all the business can run Morning to Night 9 pm. People can obtain permission from the police for organising functions, political party meetings, marriages by confining the number of participants below 100.
Telangana: 2734 new cases, 2325 recoveries & 09 deaths reported in the last 24 hours; out of 2734 cases, 347 cases reported from GHMC. Total cases: 1,27,697; Active cases: 31,699; Deaths: 836; Discharges: 95,162. The Covid-19 map of Telangana is fast changing with surge in numbers in districts far away from Hyderabad — especially towards the eastern side. the top five that have seen cases double in the last couple of weeks are: Yadadri, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad and Nalgonda.
Maharashtra: With 1,935 new Covid cases reported on Monday, Pune has overtaken Delhi to become the worst affected centre in Delhi with total reported cases of 1,75,105. Delhi has 1.74 lakh reported cases, while Mumbai 1.45 lakh cases. The number of active cases in Pune is 52,172. Maharashtra on Monday reported 11,852 new cases taking its overall tally to 7,92,541. Meanwhile, the State Government has eased the travel restrictions on inter-district movement and the ePass requirement has been done away with.
Gujarat: Amid increasing Covid 19 cases in Rajkot, a team of senior health officials and doctors led by Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanti Ravi has arrived in the city. The experts will monitor facilities in government and private hospitals for COVID-19 patients and provide guidance to doctors on treatment protocol for coronavirus and tele-mentoring, among other steps.The government will also provide additional ventilators and beds for COVID-19 patients in Rajkot. Gujarat, meanwhile reported 1,280 new cases during the last 24 hours. At present, there are 15,631 active cases in the state.
Rajasthan: A total of 670 new Covid-19 cases, 117 recoveries and six deaths were reported from Rajasthan in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 82,363. The total figure includes 14,372 active cases and 66,929 recoveries. So far, 1,062 lives have been claimed by the infectious virus in the state.
Madhya Pradesh : MP reported as many as 32,159 COVID-19 cases in the month of August, slightly more than double of the total cases reported till July 31. The positive tally as on August 31 evening stood at 63,965, while the tally by July end was at 31,806. The spurt in the cases is evident by the fact that since the past two days, more than 1,500 cases are being reported in the state per day. In 24 hours till Monday evening, 1,532 cases were reported. The death toll currently stands at 1,394, of which 527 or 37.8 per cent were reported in August alone.
