Manipur extends lockdown til August 15

The Manipur government has extended the ongoing complete lockdown and curfew in the state till the 15th of August in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases.

The entire state was under complete lockdown and curfew from 23rd July till yesterday to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

A Cabinet meeting led by Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was held last evening to review the crisis. During the meeting, the decision was taken to extend the ongoing complete lockdown in the state till the 15th of this month.

An official order issued by the State Chief Secretary said, certain relaxations will be allowed during this period. All locality-based retails shops dealing with essential commodities will be opened in all districts from 8 am to 12 noon on all days except Sundays.

Moreover, certain parts of the Imphal market and other markets in districts will be opened on a roster basis to cater the requirement of retailers.

22 new COVID-19 cases detected in Meghalaya

In Meghalaya, 22 new COIVID-19 cases were detected today taking the total active positive case to 595.

Director of Health Services, Dr. Aman War said that out of the 22 new cases, 19 were from East Khasi Hills district and all were civilians, one BSF personnel in West Garo Hills district, and two civilians in South West Garo Hills district.

Out of the 595 total COVID 19 cases that have been detected in Meghalaya, East Khasi Hills district has 487 cases which include 188 BSF personnel, 241 civilians and 58 Armed Force personnel. In other districts, West Khasi Hills-5, Ri-Bhoi-51, West Jaintia Hills-16, East Jaintia Hills-17, West Garo Hills-15, South West Garo Hills-2 and South Garo Hills-2.

So far 39,553 samples have been sent for testing out of which 38,062 were found negative and results of 552 are awaited. The total number of recovered cases is 339.

29 security personnel test COVID-19 positive in Mizoram
AIR PicsIn Mizoram 33 fresh Coronavirus positive cases including 29 security personnel were detected during the last 24 hours. Also, four patients were discharged after recovery yesterday.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 537 and a total of 286 patients have been discharged after recovery from the infections.

According to the official statement, the number of active cases in the state presently stands at 251. The recovery rate presently stands at 53.25%.
