In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the total number of active cases of COVID-19 has dropped down to 120.

In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the total number of active cases of  COVID-19 has dropped down to 120.

More than 83% of active cases are in the South Andaman district. There are 4689 positive cases reported so far out of which 4508 patients have recovered.
 

As a result, the recovery rate has improved to 96.1 percent which is one of the highest in India. The test positivity rate is 3.76 percent. Meanwhile, 61 people lost their lives till date. The death rate is 1.3per cent.  7 new cases were reported while 17 recovered yesterday.

The administration has been maintaining a strict vigil on testing. All the incoming passengers are being tested using the Corona Rapid Antigen Test unlike other airport arrivals in India. Inter-island testing is also being conducted.

 
Meanwhile, the flight services to Port Blair have been increased. Now, 5 or more flights are available between the mainland and Port Blair on a daily basis. Direct flights to Port Blair from Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad Kolkata, and Delhi are now available.

Tourist activities have resumed in South Andaman. However, North and Middle Andaman, Little Andaman, and Nicobar are not open for tourists. The water sports activities like Scuba diving, Sea Walk, etc. have also re-opened this month.
