Plastic surgery can change shapes, add tissues and focuses on social appearance says Dr. Tawheed Ahmad, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital

“Plastic surgeons are called perfectionists and for them patient satisfaction matters most,” says Dr. Tawheed Ahmad on treating patients with plastic surgery,” Dr. Tawheed Ahmad, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital.

Dr. Tawheed Ahmad, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital,  has experience in Surgeries like Body contouring, Breast cosmetic, Rhinoplasty, Liposuction, and eyelid surgeries.

King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital is a 300-bed teaching hospital and is Governed by the Ministry of Education in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is serving as a secondary hospital for both adults and children, providing its services through ambulatory care and in-patient services.

Plastic surgery not confined to a specific body region

Dr. Tawheed opens up on choosing Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery, "Actually, I got attracted to the surgical field while doing my internship, where I found surgeons more active, day and night working to operate and save patient lives, so I chose to become surgeon, then while doing my residency in surgery, I had the opportunity to work in different surgical subspecialties and found plastic surgery far different than other specialties like plastic surgery not being confined to specific body region and operates anywhere from head to toe, one more interesting thing that I made me opt plastic surgery is that it is the only specialty which changes shapes, adds tissues and focuses on the social appearance of patients,” he says.

Plastic surgeons are called perfectionists

Dr. Tawheed sheds light on the subject, "Well this is a fact that there is a lot of buzz around the plastic surgical field but none of the surgery in the world is immune to complications which may range from minor infection to failure of surgery or even may sometimes risk the life of the patients, but one thing good about plastic surgeons is that they are called perfectionists and for them, patient satisfaction matters most, so they take utmost care of all their patients and perform surgeries as meticulously as possible for better results and outcome,” he says.

Plastic surgeons in India

Dr. Tawheed shares his thoughts on the comparison between the western outlook and the Indian attitude towards surgical beautification and dominating trends as a surgeon in India, "In western countries, people are liberal in opting for cosmetic surgeries, in India as well especially in metropolitan cities the demand for cosmetic surgical procedures is increasing every passing day as awareness about such procedures is reaching masses through social media and other mediums; but yes I should say if we consider India as a whole here plastic surgeons are mostly occupied by reconstructive work rather than the cosmetic ones, " he says.

COVID-19 as a part of new normal

Dr. Tawheed explains, "The world is getting adjusted to a new normal as life must go on. Now hospitals across the globe are trying to resume their function as before COVID era with all the additional precautions that need to be taken for combating the spread of coronavirus," he says.
