Tamil Nadu to extend Plasma Therapy to all Covid patients in the state

In Tamil Nadu, the convalescent plasma therapy has been further expanded as it yields an impressive result against Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the total infection in the state has crossed 3,14,000 as 5871 people tested positive yesterday. The number of recoveries has also surged to over 2,56,000.

The convalescent plasma therapy has been initially started on an experimental basis in Chennai, which has proved to be one of the most effective clinical methods to fight against the Covid-19 disease.

In Chennai alone, over 57 people have undergone the therapy and most of them have completely recovered as said by authorities. The clinical method has been initiated in Madurai also recently where all the seven people who got it have recovered faster. It has encouraged the health officials to start work on launching it in the Government Medical College Hospital at Thanjavur as well.

Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy recently made an appeal to all the eligible people who recovered recently from the viral infection to donate their blood plasma to help the existing patients.

The lockdown in Tamil Nadu has been extended till August 31st. In a statement in Chennai, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy said that full lockdown will be in force on all the Sundays in the month of August, just like in July.

Outside containment areas in Chennai, offices are permitted to operate with 75 percent of the staff which was earlier restricted to half of the total strength. Meanwhile, the total Covid-19 infection in the state has gone up to nearly two lakh forty thousand with 5864 people testing positive today.

Our correspondent reports, for August, there is no change in the existing restrictions on public transport including air and rail services in Tamil Nadu. E-Pass is mandatory to travel from one district to another and from one state to the other. Provision and vegetable shops have been permitted to operate for an additional one hour from 6 am to 7 pm.

Places of worship in rural areas with an annual income of up to ten thousand rupees are allowed to be kept open while others will remain out of bounds for the public. The decision on the extension of the lockdown has been arrived at after the chief minister spoke to the 12 different teams of officials, medical experts and the district collectors and after the Union Home Ministry announced the guidelines.
