Delhi government has allowed reopening of cinemas, theatres and multiplexes with up to 50 per cent of their seating capacity from 15th of October.

According to an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), such establishments will remain closed in COVID-19 containment zones in the city.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that cinema halls will be allowed to reopen from October 15 and they will have to follow all guidelines issued by the central government.

The DDMA also allowed all weekly markets to function with immediate effect.

Until now, only two such markets were being allowed in every municipal zone every day.

A total of 2,871 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Delhi yesterday taking the infection tally in the city to over 2,98,000. Delhi Government has said that over 2,70,000 people affected with Coronavirus have been cured so far.

In the last 24 hours, 3,370 people recovered and 35 deaths were reported in the National Capital taking the toll to 5,616. Presently, the total number of active cases in Delhi is 22,186.
