These plants also have an added bonus as they can be consumed or mixed with food for gaining preventive healthcare. 

Tulsi

Any household in India will have Tulsi. This miracle plant can help fight cough, cold, sore throat and more. Tulsi can also lower one’s blood pressure and treat some stomach disorders. Its presence can purify the air. When combined with tea, it can also help reduce stress and anxiety. 

Methi 

Methi is a staple ingredient of any Indian household. Methi seeds and dried leaves can be used to cure dysentery and diarrhoea. Drinking the water from overnight soaked methi seeds can boost one’s overall immunity. The seeds can then be crushed and used as a hair mask for dandruff-free long hair.  

Ajwain 

Ajwain is a very important ingredient in Indian kitchens. As a plant, it can easily be grown and with minimum maintenance. Ajwain seeds can be consumed to solve digestive problems, stomachache and even acidity. Inhaling from mildly heated Ajwain seeds can help cure headaches and colds. 

Aloe Vera

Applying the gel on the hair can help fight hair fall and dandruff. Consuming aloe vera can help improve one’s digestive process. 

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha has been in use as a medicinal plant for the last 2000 years. The plant’s roots and leaves are used for fighting anxiety and depression. It also boasts one’s brain functioning and reduces blood sugar levels. The plant is also useful to balance thyroid hormones and reduce cortisol. 

Mint 

This herb can enhance your living space and your food. Consuming pudina chai can help fight asthma and enhance blood circulation. Chewing on its leaves can prevent bad breath. Breastfeeding mothers can use it to prevent nipple crack.
