Gujarat, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh - Latest news update

In Gujarat, 362 fresh cases were reported yesterday taking the total number of cases to 8,904. Principal Secretary of health department Dr Jayanti Ravi said the discharge rate has been improved by four percent in the state yesterday as many as 466 people were discharged from various hospitals.

Industrial activities have been resumed in more than 135 Municipalities areas of the state. CMO Secretary Ashwini Kumar said around 8 lakhs workers have joined the work so far. He said more than 68 percent of electricity is being used for industrial purposes which shows normalcy in industrial activity. The state government has also allowed industrial and business units to resume operations from May 14 in Rajkot city area except for containment zones.

In Ahmedabad, the government is easing the lockdown norms. All the vegetable and grocery shops which have been closed for a week will be reopened from 15th May with strict conditions. The state has so far sent around 3 lakh migrant workers to their native states.

Meanwhile, to ensure the maintenance of peace, law and order in the state, Maharashtra has asked for 20 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) from the Centre. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the Corona pandemic and resultant lock down have seen the police force stretched as they work in extremely challenging conditions for long hours both day and night.

The 32 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force already deployed in the state are working in tandem with the Maharashtra police. Many Maharashtra police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19 and need time to rest and recuperate according to the state government.

In other news in  dealing with the corona epidemic in Himachal Pradesh, various organizations, societies and individuals are helping the government by donating amount in state COVID Fund. The elderly women of Mandi district have set an example by donating the amount of one lakh one thousand rupees, collected for a religious event in the state COVID Fund.

About 30 elderly women of Mandi district had collected an amount of one lakh one thousand rupees to get the Ramayana recited and to establish the statue of god Ram but due to the imposition of nation wide lockdown they could not get these events organized. Then these elderly women decided to deposit this amount in the State COVID Fund through the district administration.

Binta Devi ,Vindhyavasini Bahl, Padma and Nirmala Gupta of the Ramayana Party says that the Ramayana lesson is a work connected with religion but the corona crisis is a major threat to human society. They said in this hour of unprecedented crisis, if this money is used for human welfare, then there is nothing more religious than this. The ramayana party of elderly women of Bhootnath temple has proved that serving others is the true form of religion.
