After detecting flaws in the kit Rajasthan government stops rapid testing for COVID-19

Rajasthan has stopped the antibody rapid test of Coronavirus claiming that the kit sent by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is faulty. State Health Minister Raghu Sharma steers clear that the kit is showing wrong results and there is no procedural lapse at Government’s front.

Practically, there, a big question had arisen after 100 patients with Coronavirus at Sawai Mansingh Hospital were tested through this kit, and only 5 came positive. As it achieved only 5 % results the kits are considered to faulty. The doctors said that a second lot of kit is being tested, in case there was problem with the first lot. If the same result repeat, the government will return the set of kits. The Coronavirus test costs only Rs 600, though this kit.

Rajasthan is the first among the Coronavirus infected States to start testing with antibody rapid kit. Out of 2000 people were tested through the rapid kit, only 5 people of a family were found positive.  Meanwhile, 52 new cases of corona have been reported in Rajasthan. According to the data released by the health department on Tuesday the total confirmed cases in the State have risen to 1628.
