Post Covid Syndrome

A syndrome called Post Covid Syndrome has emerged after the first phase of Covid 19. The name itself is self-explanatory of what it exactly means but experts claim that more research is required on this condition to ascertain things.

Corona persists in our lives and hence post covid syndrome is extremely new for experts to share their valuable inputs on which are generally based on years of research on a particular health condition or syndrome. It has not been studied in great depth by experts yet but they have started to pay attention to it. For an overview, people considered to be suffering from post-covid syndrome experience fatigue and dyspnoea which follows hospitalization due to Covid19. Other symptoms could be chest pain, depression, gastrointestinal problems, weakness, muscle pains, headaches, etc.

This syndrome is being mostly associated with individuals who have suffered a long spell of the virus in their bodies leading to a more acute experience of the disease compared to others and have been under the care of experts in the ICU as well. Any prolonged hospitalization follows fatigue and dyspnoea and similar is the case with post covid syndrome with of course lung-related discomfort.

High volume research data about this syndrome is yet to get garnered. There have been instances of even those not being hospitalized having suffered from PCS. Some health experts have been suggesting to contact physicians for it if the symptoms are severe. A general physician would be the one who would be able to help out with post covid syndrome but depending upon the severity, they might refer the individual to a cardiologist, pulmonologist, gastrointestinal specialist, psychiatrist, etc.

Researchers and health professionals are trying their best to help patients fight their covid blues. Perhaps in this process, they are also accumulating valuable information to create a good knowledge base on how patients react to different interventions in the same situations or the same interventions in different situations. Post covid syndrome has managed to garner high-interest levels from different segments of society in its current nascent stage itself.
