In Mizoram, 80 new cases of Corona virus infections were detected, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,607.
The official statement reports that 2,233 patients have so far  recovered. Presently, 374 infected persons are undergoing treatment.
 

Meanwhile, with the surge of infections in the last few days, the State Government has declared lockdown in Aizawl Municipal Area.
The lockdown in Aizawl City area began yesterday and will remain in force till early morning of 3rd of November.

 
The decision has been taken to break the chain of transmission of the virus. Also, with the lockdown coming into force, streets in the state capital wore a deserted look as the markets shut down and vehicles except carriers of essential services are not found plying on the streets.
