The Central Government said that the country is performing well in several indicators in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. It said, the recovery rate is progressively increasing and the fatality rate is continuously declining which shows that India has done relatively well in handling the Covid-19 situation.
Briefing media in New Delhi today, the official of Health and Family Welfare Ministry said, the difference between the active cases and the recovered cases are progressively increasing and the total recoveries reached 1.8 times of the active cases.It said, a total of seven lakh 24578 people affected with coronavirus have recovered so far and with this the recovery rate reached to 62.72 per cent in the country. It said, the total number of active corona cases is 4,02259 and the number of active cases are continuously declining.
The Health Ministry said the country has registered 837 cases per million and 20.4 deaths per million which are lower than the global average. It said the case fatality rate also declined to 2.43 percent and 22 States and Union Territories have a lower fatality rate than the national average of fatality rate.
The Health Ministry said, there are 30 states and union territories which have a lower positivity rate than India’s average of 8.07 percent. On the Community transmission of Covid-19, the Health Ministry said, there are clusters of cases and pockets of localized transmission in the country.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, India is moving forward with the vision of a self-sufficient nation. He stressed that the country is moving towards the development of an integrated, tech and data-driven healthcare system which is affordable and hassle-free. Interacting with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna yesterday, Mr. Modi said, this is a great time to invest in India. He said Government is committed to ensuring that the technological shift towards work from home is smooth.
Talking about the impact of COVID on business culture, the Prime Minister said that work from home is being adopted in a big way and the government is constantly working towards providing infrastructure, connectivity and regulatory environment to ensure that this technological shift is smooth. He also discussed the technologies and challenges involved in the recent decision of IBM to make 75 percent of its employees to work from home.
The Prime Minister appreciated the role played by IBM, in association with CBSE, towards the launch of the Artificial Intelligence curriculum in 200 schools in India. He said that the government is working towards introducing students to concepts such as AI, machine learning etc at an early stage, to further the tech temperament in the country.
IBM CEO expressed confidence in the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Mr. Krishna briefed the Prime Minister about the huge investment plans of IBM in India.
Consequently, IBM has a huge presence in the country, with over one lakh of people working across 20 cities in the company. Other areas of discussion included the issues of data security, cyber-attacks, concerns around privacy, and health benefits of Yoga.
