Cancer is considered a deadly disease. Here are quick warning signals which will help you identify and detect gynecological cancer in the right way.

Cancer is a chronic disease that can occur in anyone. It causes uncontrollable growth of body cells which can spread to other parts of the body, depending on whether or not it gets detected on time. The prompt and immediate diagnosis followed by proper treatment can help fasten the healing and recovery process. To do that, being aware of the symptoms and signs of cancer is extremely crucial. Some symptoms in particular can signal 5 types of cancer associated with the female reproductive system, also called gynecological cancers.

Gynecological cancers refer to cancer cells associated with the female reproductive system also called gynecological cancers. It refers to cancer or tumor cells that develop in the female reproductive organs.

Types of Gynecological Cancers

According to the cancer research society, there are different types of cancers that can affect women. Some gynecological cancers include:

  • Ovarian
  • Cervical

These two types of cancers are the most common cancer occurring in women today.

Symptoms of Gynecological cancers

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are certain symptoms that can be common in all 5 types of cancers. These include -

  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • Pelvic pain and fullness
  • Frequent urination
  • Vaginal burning, and itchiness
  • Tenderness of vagina
  • Frequent urging to urinate

Vaccine for HPV

The Centers for Disease Control recommended getting an HPV vaccine which can reduce the risk of cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancer. HPV or Human Papillomavirus is a common sexually transmitted infection. The vaccine is recommended for anyone aged 11 to 12 years but can be given starting at age of 9.

Any woman is at risk of developing gynecologic cancer. However, there are certain factors that can increase the risk of gynecologic cancer. These include family history, obesity, age, and HPV. Early diagnosis and treatment are extremely essential for immediate and smooth recovery. When you notice any signs of gynecological cancer, it is important to speak to your doctor at the earliest and get the necessary test done. These include a pap smear that can help detect cervical and uterine cancers, a pelvic exam that includes the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, and a rectum examination. An endometrial sample tissue test checks for abnormal cells or signs of uterine cancer.

Regular screenings are very important which can help detect any form of cancer on time. It is important to recognise the warning signs and not to take them lightly.
