Healthtech startup BlueSemi bags Rs 500 crore

BlueSemi is a Hyderabad-based deep tech AIoT firm founded in May 2017 by Sunil Kumar Maddikatla. Their Needle-Free Glucometer, Eyva bags the large sum of Rs 500 crore. BlueSemi was formed with the vision to leverage innovative and cutting-edge technology to promote a Preventive and Connected healthcare ecosystem.

Eyva is a non-invasive glucometer that when placed on one's skin can read six biometrics within the span of 60 seconds. It checks one's sugar level, body temperature, ECG, heart rate, SpO2 for blood oxygen along blood pressure. Their product Eyva is pocket-friendly and costs upwards of 15,000. Based on the metrics the app can recommend diet, exercise and other ways to take care of your health. 

For COVID, the company had created Sens, a contactless temperature measuring solution. The venture was founded by IIIT-Hyderabad's postgraduate. BlueSemi had received $300,000 in seed funds and $166,000 in an angel round. Eyva helps people make informed choices regarding their food and its response to the body. 

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), as many as 463 million people are suffering from diabetes globally. Nearly, 77 million people belong to India alone. Yet preventive healthcare for diabetes is scarce in the 'Diabetes Capital' of the world.
