Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his scheduled address to the nation declared that the ongoing nationwide 21-day has been extended until May 3. The lockdown in view to curb the Coronavirus spread was due to end on Tuesday.
Modi asserts that lockdown, and other measures like social distancing, have reaped benefits in the country. He further shared that India needs acute clinical precision to arrest the spread of the virus and take stricter actions to prevent the country from emerging hot spots. The Prime Minister thanks his countrymen for abiding by the lockdown despite the hardships faced by many of them. Some proactive States like West Bengal had announced extension even before Modi’s speech.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted his decision to extend lockdown a day before the official announcements made from the Centre.
