Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation(MBMC) has launched a special mobile App to further tighten social distancing norms in the locality while easing inconvenience to residents in sourcing essential commodities.
MBMC commissioner Chandrakant Dange told Mirror Online on Friday that the special App--MBMC Home Delivery-- has been launched exclusively for Naya Nagar residents with a view to check the further spread of the virus in the area by restricting people's movement outside their respective housing societies. "People are still using some excuse or the other to travel out of the corporation area to nearby places like Vasai, Mumbai or Thane, which are all red zones. The result being they become unwitting carriers and victims too. The movement has to stop now given so many cases have been reported ," Dange said.
The App has been launched in Naya Nagar as a pilot. "It will be extended to other areas once the list of shopkeepers is obtained," Dange said.
Timing for home delivery of milk has been fixed between 5 am and 9 am while shops selling essential commodities, like grocery stores, will remain open between 9 am and 5 pm.
However, pharmacies will continue to remain open as usual, the order states.
