Maharashtra has recorded 4,092 new cases of Covid-19 today. 40 deaths have been reported due to the virus in the last 24 hours
Mumbai has also witnessed a spike with 645 new Covid-19 cases and 4 deaths.Meanwhile, the administering of the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine to the healthcare workers in Mumbai will begin from February 15 onwards.
The immunisation programme had kickstarted on January 16, 2021, and 1,957 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the first day. The government has recommended a gap of 28 days between the two vaccine doses. It was earlier expected that the vaccination drive would start from February 13, but BMC said they hadn’t received the go-ahead from the government on the same.
According to experts, looking at the current pandemic situation, it makes all the more sense to carry out the immunisation programme simultaneously.
Considering the rising number of cases, BMC has enhanced the testing in critical areas like Dharavi. "None of the beneficiaries in Mumbai so far were found to have any serious adverse effects after vaccination," said BMC.
