Maharashtra Government is mooting to cap the pricing of masks and sanitizers. A notification in this regard will be soon issued by the State Government. State Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope, who is in talks with the Food and Drug Administration Department (FDA) has intimated about the same to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Mr. Tope said masks and sanitizers should not be charged exorbitantly. The government has already capped the pricing of hospitals and ambulances to ferry COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate Mahajobs portal today. This portal is expected to provide employment opportunities to the local unemployed and also fulfill the requirement of workers for industries.

Over 65,000 industries have been started in the state post lockdown. Maharashtra Government has recently signed MoUs worth 17,000 crore rupees with various companies in the country and abroad.

In addition, the State Government has also started issuing licenses for new industries. In the wake of these developments, the demand for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers has increased in the industry sector.

However, a large number of workers have migrated to their hometowns due to lockdown triggered due to Coronavirus. In such conditions, the web portal 'Mahajobs' is expected to ensure that the industry does not face a shortage of workers and also provides employment to the locals. Job seekers need to upload their information on this portal. Once registered, job opportunities will be made available to these job seekers from various companies.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,06,619 with the single-day spike of 6,555 new cases on Sunday. With the death of 151 more patients, the state's fatality count rose to 8,822. As per the State Health Department, a total of 3,658 patients were discharged from hospitals post-recovery on Sunday, which took the number of recovered persons to 1,11,740 so far.

Of the total number of 151 deaths reported during the day, 69 were from Mumbai alone, while 20 from Pune. Out of the total 6,555 new cases, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including Mumbai city, accounted for the highest 3,941 cases, taking its total to 1,45,769 and death toll to 6,401 deaths.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the rising number of patients, BMC has started Rapid Antigen testing for COVID 19 in Mumbai.

In order to make COVID-19 tests easily accessible to all suspects having symptoms, BMC has launched a Universal testing policy. ICMR approved 1 lakh Rapid Antigen testing kits have been procured for this purpose. This test is recommended for all symptomatic COVID 19 suspects and asymptomatic High-risk contacts with Comorbidity.

This test is being conducted in the medical colleges, hospitals and containment zones at present. It will be gradually expanded to cover more areas. If the test is negative in asymptomatic COVID - 19 suspects, then the second sample will be taken and sent for the RT-PCR test. A total of 724 tests have been conducted so far.
