With a rise of 4930 new cases, Maharashtra’s caseload of coronavirus patients has increased to 18,28,826. According to the state’s public health department, 6,290 were discharged today, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,91,412. The state reported 95 fatalities, taking the death toll to 47,246. Maharashtra currently has an active case count of 89,098.
Maharashtra’s recovery rate stands at 92.49 percent while the case fatality rate stands at 2.58 percent. Maharashtra has conducted 1.09 crore tests so far and the positivity rate stands at 16.75 percent.
Mumbai's coronavirus tally jumped by 724, taking the total number of infections to 2,84,191. The city reported nine deaths during the day while 775 patients were discharged post-recovery.
Meanwhile, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that the government plans to vaccinate doctors and health professionals, police force and people suffering from comorbidities in the first phase. Speaking to reporters in Jalna district, Mr. Tope said the state is in constant touch with the Centre and will provide the approved COVID-19 vaccine in phases, as per the guidelines that will be issued by the central government.
