The death toll in the US due to the unwarranted spread of Coronavirus crosses 50,000-mark on Friday, reveals Johns Hopkins University.
The uninviting report ensues the relaxation of lockdown in parts of the US that have immobilized the world's largest economy.
According to a tally compiled by the university from government data, in 24 hours, till Friday morning, the US clocked around 3,176 fatalities due to COVID-19 spread in the US; the highest recorded death in a single day since the pandemic broke in China's Wuhan city last year.
Coronavirus cases crosses 2.7 million-mark globally, with more than 1,92,000 dead and the US accounted for nearly a third of the total number of cases, crossing 8,69,000, and over a quarter of the fatalities with 50,031.
The relaxation of lockdown in Georgia allows non-essential businesses like gyms, barbershops, and bowling alleys to reopen, with mere guidelines for social distancing, according to CNN. Restaurants are due to reopen in Georgia on Monday, it said. States easing restriction arbitrarily from next week Colorado, Minnesota Montana, and Tennessee.
