According to a study overuse and reckless use of headphones, leads to hearing loss in adolescents and young adults. The study says that if you can hear the music your child is playing through headphones or earphones, it means the sound is too loud an can lead to permanent hearing loss.
The amount of hearing loss is related to volume and duration of time the person is exposed to the sound. The safe time of exposure is inversely proportional to the volume. Headphones can cause ear infections, which can contribute to hearing loss.
Headphones increase the humidity and temperature inside the ear canals. The headphone ear cushions need to be replaced every two to three months, and should be treated regularly with a cleaning agent to avoid accumulation of germs and bacteria. Sharing earphones is not good idea, as bacteria from others’ ears will travel into yours.
