Blaming low scheme rates and pending dues from the government, the Indian Medical Association, Pune chapter, is looking to raise bed rates that hospital charge from the patient. The move comes after the hospitals’ long standing complain about their struggle to run their facilities due to huge expenses and less income. The medical fraternity has also come out in support claiming that it is being forced into closure and facilities are downed daily.
In the prosed study, IMA Pune will check per-bed expenses calculating the amount of fixed investment, loans taken by doctors, staff salaries, maintenance and miscellaneous expenses. Currently the city hospitals treat the patients under services like Urban Poor Health Scheme, Central Government Health Scheme or the Ex-Servicemen Contributory health Scheme. Rates under CGHS were last revised in 2014. Dues running into crores remain pending to be paid to hospitals across the country.
