To think that too much time spent on smart phones and social media leads to spike in anxiety and depression and other mental health disorders amongst adolescents, is not true.
A research recently published, combed through about 40 studies that have examined the link between social media use and depression amongst young generation. It was concluded that the link is too small and inconsistent to explain the level of panic and consternation around these mental health issues.
According to guidelines issued by World Health Organisation (WHO), infants under a year old should not be exposed to electronic screens and that children between age 2 and 4 should not have more than an hour of sedentary screen time.
However, researchers counter this claim saying that in most cases the phone is just a mirror that reveals the problems a child would have even without a phone.
