During the last 24 hours 4,835 COVID-19 patients have been cured. Thus so far, a total of 91,818 patients have been cured of COVID-19. The recovery rate in the country is progressively increasing and has reached 48.19% amongst COVID-19 patients. The recovery rate on 18th May was 38.29 %. On 3rd May it was 26.59 %. On 15th April it was 11.42 % , which shows government is working in the right direction ,said Health Ministry today,
Presently there are 93,322 active cases in the country which are under active medical supervision. The case fatality rate is 2.83%. On 18th May, the case fatality rate was 3.15%. On 3rd May, it was 3.25 %. On 15th April it was 3.30 %. A steady decline can be seen in the case fatality rate in the country. The relatively low death rate is attributed to the continued focus on surveillance, timely case identification and clinical management of the cases.
Two specific trends are thus noticed, while the recovery rate is increasing on one hand, case fatality is going down on the other.
The testing capacity has increased in the country through 472 Government and 204 private laboratories (total 676 laboratories). Cumulatively, 38,37,207 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19, whereas, 1,00,180 samples were tested yesterday.
According to the latest Ministry figures,the number of patients affected by COVID-19 in the country has climbed to 1,90,535 while the death toll rose to 5,394.
The Health Ministry data released this morning reported that,the number of active cases of COVID-19 stood at 93,322. As many as 91,819 people have been cured.
Meanwhile,Maharashtra the worst affected state , recorded 2487 fresh cases of Coronavirus yesterday. With this the total number of patients till date stands at 65,168. With the recovery of 1248 patients today, 29,329 patients have been discharged from the hospital. Now there are 36,031 active cases in Maharashtra while as many as 89 deaths were registered yesterday taking the death toll to 2197 in the state.State capital Mumbai accounts for 39,686 cases and 1,279 fatalities
Taking note of the rising coronavirus cases , the Maharashtra government decided to extend the ongoing lockdown till June 30.Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray laid down the roadmap of the exit from lockdown in phase wise manner in the red zones of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including Mumbai, as well as Solapur, Pune, Aurangabad, Malegaon, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur while the permitted activities will not resume in COVID-19 containment zones. Addressing the people of the state through Social Media, Thackeray explained his "Mission Begin Again." Maharashtra CM Thackeray urged the people to follow the discipline in the new beginning and set an example in front of the country. He also cautioned that the people will have to be careful on each and every step.Thackeray listed health and education as the priority areas for his government, saying that COVID-19 pandemic has also taught positive lessons.
In the phase-wise opening which will begin from June 3rd, 5th and 8th, outdoor physical activities, activities related to self-employed people like plumbers, electricians and technicians are being permitted.Apart from this private offices can operate with up to 10 per cent of total manpower strength with remaining persons working from home.Ban on Newspaper home delivery is also lifted and from next Sunday the service will resume. All markets, market areas and shops, except malls, will also be allowed to open from June 5 on the odd-even basis in non-containment zones. However, religious places, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants will continue to remain closed.
Intra-district bus services will be allowed with maximum 50 per cent capacity, but inter-district bus services will remain barred.As of now, the government has decided against reopening educational institutions and against allowing operation of international air travel; metro rail; passenger movement by train and domestic air travel unless specially allowed through separate orders and standard operating procedure. Cinema halls, gymnasiums,swimming pools, public parks, theaters, bars,auditoriums, assembly halls,religious places, beauty parlors, barber shops, salons, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services will not be allowed to open.
