Vaccine brings us closer- The theme for National Vaccination Day 2021 will urge greater engagement in immunization globally to protect people of all ages against various diseases

National Vaccination Day is also known as “National Immunization Day” is celebrated every year on the 16 th of March. Vaccination Day is an annual event before the onset of summer. Vaccines are very important to prevent outbreaks which help us keep safe. The Government observes 16th March 2021 as National Vaccination Day to create awareness among the masses about the importance of vaccination programs. The COVID19 outbreak has led to a storm where there is a need to roll out vaccines. This March 16 is the perfect time to roll out the vaccines for COVID19 and to spread awareness campaigns about the effectiveness of vaccines.

History of National Vaccination Day

The first National Vaccination Day was observed in the year 1995. On this day, the first dose of oral polio vaccine was given in India. The main idea behind this was to eradicate polio with the “Pulse Polio Campaign” that was launched by the Government in 1995. According to WHO, “Immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eliminating infections and life-threatening diseases”

Vaccines: A protective shield for your system

Vaccines are a safe and protective tool to build your immunity against infectious disease. Vaccination is a treatment usually by intramuscular injection that helps the immune system to prepare a fight against future infection. They are prepared by the formula of “like cures like “ Vaccines contain inactivated toxins and are prepared by the disease-causing bacteria. Once a vaccine is injected into the body, you will produce antibodies in your system which will give you a protective shield against the spread of the virus.

Mode of vaccination

Vaccination can be in the form of oral drops or injections to provide you protection. Some vaccines need to be given more than once. This is also called “Booster Vaccination” to make sure that the immune system is future-ready to overcome the infection.

Here are the most important reasons to get vaccinated today

Vaccines will keep you healthy.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CD) recommends getting vaccinated regularly to keep yourself protected from all infections. When you skip vaccines, you are more prone to shingles, pneumococcal diseases, herpes, influenza, hepatitis leading to other health issues that can have a detrimental effect on your health.

Vaccines are safe to administer

The importance of vaccination should be spread among the masses. Every parent needs to vaccinate their child at the correct age to protect them from any chronic infections and disabilities that can harm their life. Vaccines are the safest product than other medicines.

Vaccine-preventable diseases have not gone away

The bacterias and viruses still exist around the world. They are being passed away to the next generation. A vaccine can help in preventing the occurrence of the disease and can help protect you. If you are traveling across the globe, make sure that you get yourself vaccinated for protection.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) takes steps to make sure vaccines are safe and effective

Before a vaccine is approved, it goes through clinical trials. The safety and efficacy of the vaccine are very important to ensure protection from viruses. The FDA evaluates various clinical studies and inspects the vaccines before it is available for administration

Prevention is better than cure

Getting immunized is better than going under treatment like medications or surgery for infectious disease. Vaccination is completely safe and helps you achieve better immunity power against infectious diseases. It will reduce the outbreak and spread of diseases.
