“Peoples of 18 – 44 years age group are allowed for on – site registration and appointment for COVID19 vaccination”

On-site registration and appointment for the 18-44 years age group is allowed on the CoWin platform at all government centers. This is only for government vaccination centers and not for private hospitals. However the Central government has left the decision of this on to the State and UT government. State and UT government must decide this on the basis of local context.

The Centre has advised all States and UTs to issue clear instructions to all district immunization centers to strictly adhere to the on-site registration and appointment for 18+ age group. It has also advised to take extra precaution and care while opening of on-site registration and appointment so that there shouldn’t be overcrowding at vaccination centers thereby maintaining protocol of the pandemic.

Presently many states are facing shortage of vaccines and hence they have shut down the centers till they get the next batch of vaccine. To fulfill the requirements of vaccines, some states like Delhi and Maharashtra have initiated global tenders to import the vaccine. India has administered around 20 crore doses of Covid vaccines so far.
