According to a study published in European Heart Journal, for some cancers like breast, prostate, endometrial, and thyroid cancer, the risk of the patient dying due to heart disease or stroke is higher than that in normal person. Roughly half of the patients suffering from these cancers die because of heart ailment.

The cancer sites with the largest percentage of deaths from cardiovascular diseases include bladder, larynx and prostate. Cancer patients who were more likely to die from their cancer than from cardiovascular disease had more aggressive and difficult to treat cancers such as lung, liver, brain cancer.
