Do you feel healthy?
Well, you are not the only one. Over 70% of Indians feel their health getting worse after the Covid induced lockdown. This is in addition to many Indians suffering from obesity. A Ministry of Health and Family Welfare study of 2021, says that around 40% of Indians are obese. Obesity can lead to many chronic health diseases like heart problems, spine problems and more.
Many Indians are trying and taking the reins of their health into their own hands. Many Indians are trying to incorporate more healthy foods into their diet. The average spending of Indians on nutritious food has increased from $2 to an estimated $18 by 2025.
Yet the journey of losing weight is arduous. The growing trend in people to lose weight rapidly is by being on a Ketogenic diet. Keto diet is low in carbs and high in fat which prioritises burning the fat in the body. Many working professionals are too busy in their life and cannot keep track of their own food.
This gap was a business opportunity for Siddhant Bhargava, Anik Bhandari, Anirudh Ganeriwal, and Devaj Jhunjhunwala who together started Food Darzee in 2017.
Food Darzee provides specifically tailored food to help you meet your health goals. A personal nutritionist is assigned to each one who recommends a diet and exercise routine. Based on the inputs of the nutritionist, personalised food is prepared that reaches you 4 times a day. With regular inputs of the nutritionist, the food of the client is changed accordingly.
The bootstrapped venture takes away the hassle of cooking out of your life and promises to never repeat a dish for at least 30 days. Along with ketogenic they also offer Low Carb High Protein, Vegan and Balanced Diet.
The menu sounds like broccoli cheese patty for breakfast, butter chicken and keto rotis for lunch, keto chocolate fudge or zucchini nachos for snacks and grilled steaks or keto burritos for dinner.
In a year and a half of operation, they have reached the milestone of 5000+ customers. They are now making a turnover of 15 crores annually. Will Food Darzee’s hassle-free model help reduce obesity in India?
