Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) have tested 1158 samples and declared 37 samples failed to meet the standards. Among them Macleod Pharma's coxerin which is used for tuberculosis and Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals's (BPCL) amlodipine, de-worming drug albendazole and various antacids have failed the assay test.
Intas Pharmaceuticals's acid reflux combination capsule also failed the criterion test.
Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (KAPL), Albro Pharmaceuticals and Elfin Drugs' albendazole also failed dissolution test.
The spokesperson from BPPL confirmed that they have initiated the retesting process of the samples and awaiting for the final report from CDSCO.
With quality becoming a problem with Indian Pharma companies in counytry as well as abroad (it should be recalled FDA has issued 19 letters to Indian companies, highest so far in a year for quality problems.
