Roche has donated $2 million worth of Actemra to China before the anti-inflammatory med was officially added to Chinese authorities COVID-19 treatment guidelines.

It was noticed that the patients who are severely affected by the coronavirus, can develop uncontrolled immune syndrome. It may lead to life-threatening damage to their lung tissue. To tackle this issue, Chinese Authorities recently find out that Roche's arthritis drug Actemra is working wonderfully.

US FDA first approved Acterma for rheumatoid arthritis, now this drug proved to be very useful for the treatment of serious coronavirus patients. Recently China's National Health Commission also accepted the fact.

Roche confirmed that it had donated nearly $2m-worth of Actemra to China to fight COVID-19 outbreak, which at last count has claimed almost 3,200 lives out of more than 93,000 cases, 80,000 of them within China where the virus is thought to have originated.

In the meantime, Takeda and Alnylam also working on drug treatments to tackle COVID-19 infections.
