World Telecommunication Day - 17 th May 2021- “Transformation in challenging times”

During this pandemic, we all have embraced the digital world and made it part of our lives. Let us welcome the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day today on the 17 th May 2021 and help people use the internet and telecommute worldwide.

The Internet is a very important part of our lives. Due to pandemics, these days, the entire world is going digital. We are so engrossed in our digital lives that we stop paying attention to other parts of our lives. The first thing when we get up in the morning is to look for our mobile to check our messages. Isn’t that common among all of us? The digital world has become part of our lives. The Internet gives us news and important information. We like to spend time on our social media handles and get influenced by what others have to say. This pandemic has made a major transition in the world of healthcare by going digital and technology-driven.

Pay tribute to the IT healthcare sector this pandemic

This pandemic lets pay tribute and thank all the IT healthcare sector personnel for their major contribution to health care services. The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day gives us a chance to celebrate the internet use and other information communication technology has brought to us. Let’s not forget the false information and rumors which also spread through the internet. We need to be careful of the circulating messages which can be rumored among people.

World Telecommunication: A boon this pandemic !!

This year World Telecommunication and Information Society Day seems even more relevant and important than ever. The pandemic and outbreak of COVID 19 have slowed down our lives by being confined at home. In such cases, we have been more dependent on the digital world. Internet usage right from working at home to studying at home has increased during this pandemic. Right from attending the internet zoom meeting to online classes for children, we all have set our eyes on digital platforms. We are exchanging information on digital platforms during this pandemic.

Importance of exchange of correct information on the internet

Especially in times of global threat of coronavirus, information exchange is very important to alert people about important messages such as global rising cases of coronavirus and precautionary measures. It is important to further control the pandemic by giving the right information to people to minimize individual panic

Reasons bending digitalization in Indian in rural areas

Accessibility: Yes, the internet should be accessible to rural areas as well. Many people from rural areas would prefer working from home or consult their doctors from home or maybe for online classes. This internet medium should be accessible to all and for everyone.

Infrastructure: Severe villages do not have access to the proper power which is a must for internet usage. This should be made available for everyone. The government is launching a policy to reach people in every corner of the world during this pandemic.

Lack of knowledge: The correct know-how on the use of smartphones and laptops must be made available to our new generation for online studies and education. Also, healthcare can be easily accessible online.

The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day(WTISD) is celebrated annually since 1969 and this year’s theme 2021 is aptly set and named “Transformation in challenging times”
