Zealthy and infertility in India

The average infertility rate in Indian married couples is around 10-15% Of which only 45% visit a doctor for help and a mere 1% receive infertility treatments. Zealthy is deciding to change how women deal with reproductive health.

Infertility is a problem that globally affects around 15% of all reproductive-age couples. The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that the prevalence of primary infertility in India is between 3.9 to 16.8%. A research conducted by Inito, a Bengaluru-based firm, claims that the average infertility rate in Indian married couples is around 10-15% Within such couples, only 45% visit a doctor for help and a mere 1% receive infertility treatments. A majority of couples rely on homemade remedies and other options that are not clinically proven.

A huge reason is that there is a lack of awareness in women regarding their reproductive health. To bridge this gap, Akhil Gupta and Rishi Malhotra founded Zealthy in 2018. Zealthy is a health company dedicated to helping women make informed decisions regarding their reproductive health, in areas like fertility and pregnancy. Their offerings are FSSAI and ISO approved and clinically proven.

The Banglore-based startup offers services and support even for period-related problems like menopause, PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and other conditions. They also provide treatments like IVF, IUI, Surrogacy, Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy.

They have partnered with 150+ healthcare players including Apollo Cradle, Milann, Morpheus, Motherhood, and other maternity homes. Since its inception, they have helped over 10,000 mothers with pregnancy. They are currently present in 50+ cities and aim to establish themselves in 150 cities. Zealthy’s parent company, Zuddy Healthtech has raised an undisclosed amount from KYT Ventures, First Cheque, AngelList and other angel investors like MPL’s Shubham Malhotra and former SoftBank director Pavan Ongole.

The company was generating 5x revenue in August 2020 and they plan to reach Rs 1 crore per month in the coming days and enter tier 2 and tier 3 cities. They also want to expand from English and Hindi into regional languages like Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Will Zealthy be able to show growth despite severe competition in the women health segment from Healofy and BabyChakra and even in the women-based e-commerce space with competitors like Nua, PeeSafe, Azah and others?
