Unicef warned parents about the effects of instant noodles on growing children.Instant noodles are devoid of nutrients ,though it fills the belly and has harmful effects on the metabolism and growth rate. With rising poverty level and working parents, now the problem has taken epic proportion with 38 million malnourished children in South East Asia alone. The effect is skinny or bloated children with low bone density and metabolism.
UNICEF said the harm done to children is both a symptom of past deprivation and a predictor of future poverty, while iron deficiency impairs a child’s ability to learn it raises a woman’s risk of death during or shortly after childbirth.
According to the health experts, the habit is so deeply ingrained that it may need government interference in these countries to prevent noodle sales to minors and educate the parents about the toll it is taking on their children.
