Shatabdi passengers fall sick after consuming expired dated breakfast

40 passengers of Ahmedabad Shatabdi express who were travelling to Surat for a food festival took ill on Tuesday after consuming stale breakfast.

Six of the passengers showed symptomes of food poisoning while vomiting was common to all.There were also 4 US travellers who was caught in the stale breakfast incident.At the time of filing the report railways has already suspended the contractor, Sunshine Food Caterers and also fined them Rs 2 lakhs with immediate cancellation of the contract.

Seventy four sets of bread and butter packs, all with expired dates was the main cause of the outbreak and railways refunded the breakfast charge of Rs 80 to all the passengers who fell sick.

Railway officials declared further action will be taken after the detaile report
