What are dry eyes?

Dry eyes or dry eyes are a problem of the eyes in which the oil gland does not release the necessary oil in the eyes. This ends them and the eyes become dry, but this condition of the eye can be reduced with the help of eye drops

Eye Drops for dry eyes

Finding the right eye drops for your dry eyes is extremely important. There are three different types of eyedrops, artificial or artificial tears, anti-allergy drops, and anti-redness drops.

Artificial tears

These are the go-to eyedrops that can be used for dry eyes. These eye drops help keep the surface of the eyes moist. It mimics the work of real tears in the eyes. These eye drops are lubricants and help moisten your eyes. The electrolytes and preservatives present in artificial or artificial tears work to repair the surface of the eye, which helps prevent the growth of bacteria. Artificial tears treat dry eyes in most people and are inexpensive. They also help in reducing the drying of tears. It can also worsen dry eye conditions in some people, which can lead to eye irritation. It is advisable not to use artificial tears if there is irritation in the eyes or if used more than twice a day. For this, it is important that you take a proper consultation with your Ophthalmologist before using artificial tears.

Eye Drops with Preservatives

A chemical present in these artificial eyedrops helps inhibit the growth of bacteria in the eyes, which can cause slight irritation in the eyes. It is not recommended to apply them more than four times a day, as excessive use can cause some side effects.

Preservatives Free Eye Drops

Preservative-free eye drops do not contain any chemicals, so they can be used more than once a day. It is also available as single-dose vials. Fake eyedrops may cause slightly blurred vision, which is temporary.

Anti-Allergy Drops

These eye drops are used to treat dry eye conditions caused by pet dander, pollen, mold, and other allergies.  This anti-allergy eye drops release antihistamine, which blocks the histamine from doing its job. Some eye drops also help to block the production of histamine.

Anti-Redness Drops

Anti-Redness Drops helps in reducing the redness present in the eyes due to dry eyes. If these anti-redness drops are used for more than a few days, the redness in the eyes can get worse. These eye drops have limited use, as excessive use can make the eyes dependent on them to relieve redness. The vasoconstrictor present in them constricts the blood vessels on the surface of the eyes, thereby eliminating the redness of the eyes.
