The number of tests is crucial in assessing the spread of the virus, as being said by medical experts.

The state has 200 laboratories to carry out the tests, including a private lab approved on Monday in Chennai.

66 of the labs are in government hospitals, where the tests are being done freely.

The state health department has warned the private labs of severe actions if the people are charged more fee than what is approved.
