Wholsum Foods has gained Anushka Sharma as an investor and brand ambassador for their flagship brand Slurrp Farm. The startup’s USP is its millet-based snacks and meal offerings. Slurrp Farm offers healthy food options for children and their parents.
Started by Meghana Narayan and Shauravi Malik in Gurgaon, their offerings are not only healthy for humans but also for the planet. They promise to have zero junk food in their products. They have gained Rs 50 crore in revenue run rate and expect to reach Rs 500 crore by 2025.
Before Anushka Sharma’s undisclosed investment, Wholesome Foods had gained $7 million from the Government of Dubai’s sovereign wealth fund - Investment Corporation of Dubai and Fireside Ventures. The funds will be used for product innovation, expanding their reach and for marketing.
They had also raised $2 million previously by Fireside Ventures. Before that they had raised $1 million from a host of angel investors including Sanjeev Bikhchandani of Infor Edge, Aditya Ghosh of Akasa, OYO and Fab India, Ashish Dhawan of Central Square Foundation, Samrath Bedi of Forest Essential and many more.
With the outbreak of the pandemic, many are now taking strides in taking care of their own health. Last year, an average Indian spent around $2 on nutritious food which will increase to $18 by 2025. Preventive healthcare is now a $100 billion industry in our country. Wholsum Foods saw a 10X growth better the period of June 2020 to December 2021.
