The U.S Food and Drug Administration warns not to use nearly 50 weight loss products sold on Amazon and eBay that may have been found to contain hidden ingredients and constituents which may pose risk to the health of the consumers. The FDA purchased these products on Amazon and eBay. The FDA then conducted an agency testing and check and found that these products contain active pharmaceutical ingredients which were not listed in their ingredient list labeled on the pack. It was also noted that some of the ingredients were important constituents of the prescription drugs. These products have potential side effects that may affect the health of the individual.
The main purpose of the FDA is to protect the health and safety of all the consumers who are buying these products. Mr.Jason Humbert, a senior regulatory manager at FDA says, “We have found weight-loss products marketed as supplements that contain dangerous concoctions of hidden ingredients including active ingredients contained in approved seizure medicines, blood pressure medicines and antidepressants.”
