Factors affecting Premature Ejaculation

Dr. Kumar Kamble says, “Early ejaculation is known as “Premature Ejaculation." It occurs when a male ejaculates his semen sooner during sexual intercourse. It depends on two factors: time and satisfaction.”

Normal sex time

Dr. Kamble informs, ”There are various phases in sexual activity. The organs involved during sexual activity are the penis in males and the vagina in females. According to scientific studies, the normal sex time ranges between 2 mins to 7 mins.”

Dr. Kamble further elaborates, “When a male experiences orgasm and expels semen in less than 2 mins before intercourse or during sexual activity, it is termed as “Premature Ejaculation.” Generally, there is a lack of sexual satisfaction in case of Premature Ejaculation”

Reasons for Premature Ejaculation

Dr. Kambles informs, There are various reasons for Premature Ejaculation which are :

Physical Reasons

Pain in the penile region

Dryness of vagina

Friction

Systemic diseases

Hypertension

Diabetes

Psychological Reasons

Stress, depression, and anxiety are some of the major psychological reasons for Premature Ejaculation. Tension is one of the prevailing causes. Stress can have a great impact on the daily activities of life."

Prevalence of Premature Ejaculation

Dr. Kamble says, “98% of the males in the world will admit that they have experienced premature ejaculation at some point of their life. It is very common in married and sexual life.”

Knowledge about Premature Ejaculation

Dr. Kamble states, “Generally patients have less knowledge about premature ejaculation. Do not set any specific standard of sex timing. Achieving normal sex timing between 2 mins to 7 mins is sufficient enough for every male.”

Sex cycle and its stages

Dr. Kamble, informs, “Sex cycle has three stages namely: desire, arousal, and orgasm. This is very common in all males.”

Effects of masturbation on Premature Ejaculation

Dr. Kamble further explains, “History of masturbation may lead to early discharge of semen during sexual activity. Your brain registers the act and the timing of ejaculation during masturbation. If this is practiced regularly, it may be linked to premature ejaculation to some extent. However, you can take advantage of this situation by increasing your sex timing with masturbation.”

Behavioral Techniques to control Premature Ejaculation

Start and Stop Technique

Dr. Kamble informs about the Start and Stop Technique and says, “Start by gently stimulating yourself until your penis is erect. On masturbation, you will ejaculate. At this point, stop stimulating yourself and wait for 2 - 3 mins. This helps you gain control over the ejaculation and allows the backflow of semen gradually into the body. Repeat the same process after a gap of 3- 4 mins. Start by stimulating yourself gently and stop yourself before you ejaculate to gain control over your activity. This is known as the” Start and Stop Technique.”

Squeeze Technique

Dr.Kamble informs, “On sexual arousal, the penis gets erect. Stimulate yourself gently while masturbating. Once you ejaculate, stop the release of the seminal discharge by applying pressure with the thumb and middle finger by squeezing the tip of the penis. Remember, to apply adequate pressure to stop ejaculation however, it should not cause you any pain in the penile region. Squeeze the tip of the penis until there is a backflow of semen. Pause for 2 mins and repeat the squeeze process 4 -5 times. This allows you to control ejaculation in males. Practicing this during masturbation will help you with normal ejaculation during the sexual activity.”

Addiction can cause Premature Ejaculation and Performance Anxiety

Dr. Kamble emphasizes, “Alcohol and addiction can cause Premature Ejaculation. Go for de-addiction which is a solution to good health. Every male experience Premature Ejaculation at some point of time in their lives. When this occurs, they generally come under stress or tension because of the sexual dissatisfaction of their partner. Being under constant tension will lead to a vicious cycle of stress in males. The negative thoughts about Premature Ejaculation in your mind can affect your sexual performance. This leads to “Performance Anxiety.” This is applicable for all your activities when you take the stress.

Treat and Control Premature Ejaculation

Dr.Kamble advises,

“Find out the real reasons behind Premature Ejaculation Go for a regular health check-up for any health issues  Treating health issues at an early stage can help Psychological health should also be considered Take professional advice  Keep positive approach”
