Hepatitis is caused by inflammation of the liver. Inflammation is swelling that happens when tissues of the body are injured or infected. The liver plays a vital role in processing nutrients, filtering the blood, and fighting harmful infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its work rate tends to reduce because of how its functions can be affected.

There are five deadly viruses that mainly cause different forms of viral hepatitis, which are hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, and hepatitis E.The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 1.5 million instances of hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection occur worldwide each year.
