Obesity in children is a steady growing monster that holds the power to wreck their lives. Obesity links all metabolism diseases like diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension. Know how to solve it.

Obesity in children is a steady growing monster that holds the power to wreck the lives of many children. An estimated 12 million kids will be glucose intolerant. another 4 million will have type 2 diabetes and 27 million will suffer from high blood pressure. Add another 38 million suffering from severe liver problems. This will all happen in the age group of 5 to 17 only.

The root of all these problems in children is due to one thing alone. Obesity. Obesity links all metabolism diseases like diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension. It becomes the ground for PCOD in women. They can also contribute to severe mental health problems and insomnia. There are 3 pillars when it comes to defeating Obesity in kids. They are -

Diet

In an attempt to lose weight, one shouldn’t follow fast and fad diets like the keto diet and liquid diets. It is important that children get a balanced diet that is full of protein, carbohydrates, nutrients and more. Have a large number of vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains. To fulfil their craving try making homemade sweets and snacks. Store-bright snacks often have more calories due to them being fried. At home, this can be reduced and healthier alternatives could be made.

Exercise

More than diet, exercise helps the kids lose weight. More and more kids are spending an inactive lifestyle that is causing them to develop many sedentary diseases, including obesity. With school being online they are also missing their Physical Education (PE). This is where as parents, you need to help them develop habits that will help them stay physically active.

Sleep

Sleep helps the body to stay in rhythm. Sleeping on time and waking up on time helps you stay on track with your schedule. Good 7 to 8 hours of sleep also helps your immunity to stay sharp. Sleep also helps your metabolism and body to rest and work better the next day.
