Karnataka Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr. K. Sudhakar has come forward to negate suspicion on the Covaxin vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech.

Karnataka Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr. K. Sudhakar has come forward to negate suspicion on the Covaxin vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech.

He has appeared as a fellow medical professional to refrain from unwarranted criticism discrediting the hard work of the scientists involved in the development of the vaccine within the country.
 
In a series of tweets today, the Minister said that the COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin developed within the country marks a significant milestone. He said that India being one of the largest exporters of vaccines and the world is looking up to India in the common fight against the global pandemic.

The Minister stressed that Bharat Biotech is a globally reputed company with the credibility and experience of developing 16 vaccines including for influenza H1N1, Rotavirus, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies, Chikungunya, Zika, and the world’s first tetanus-toxoid conjugated vaccine for Typhoid.

 
Dr. Sudhakar informed that Bharat Biotech has delivered over four billion vaccine doses to the underprivileged people in more than 150 developing countries through UNICEF and other channels.

On the clinical trials of Covaxin, the Minister said, the Phase-3 clinical trial involves 24,000 volunteers and its data will be available soon
