Amid growing concern over the shortage of hospital beds for Coronavirus patients within the capital, the Delhi government has decided to use hotel rooms as wards to reinforce capacity. Hotel rooms are going to be commandeered by different Delhi hospitals in order that low-risk patients are often shifted there, freeing hospital beds for more critical cases.
The cost of the hotel rooms is going to be set by each hospital that the hotel is attached to. Of the entire sum paid by the patient, Rs 4,000-5,000 will attend the hotel while the remainder of the quantity will attend the hospital.
Hospitals also will be liable for fixing the hotel rooms also for creating suitable modifications and providing other medical requirements. According to sources within the Delhi government, the hotel rooms are going to be reserved for asymptomatic patients or those that have recovered but are waiting to be discharged. this may allow hospitals to utilize their beds for more serious patients.
According to a preliminary list, over 1,000 rooms are reserved by five Delhi hospitals in top hotels. The breakup of this is often as follows:
1. Max Saket - Sheraton Hotel (220 beds)
2. Apollo Hospital - Hotel Surya New Friends Colony (200 beds)
3. Batra Hospital - Hotel Crown Plaza (400 beds)
4. BL Kapur Hospital- Hotel Siddharth (200 beds)
5. Ganga Ram Hospital- Hotel Jivetesh
The move comes as Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the capital will see over 56,000 coronavirus cases by the top of subsequent fortnight .He also said, on the Delhi Corona App, nearly half the 8,500 beds are showing as vacant. "But we'll need 15,000-17,000 beds in 14-15 days as cases will rise," he added.
