Although there are different causes of dry eyes, many times homemade remedies also help in minimizing the symptoms. Take a look at a few of them.

Dry eyes can be painful. Dry eye syndrome often causes a sandy, gritty sensation in the morning that usually gets worse throughout the day. It can cause blurred vision. Dry eyes are of different types. Dry weather, smoke, and pollution can cause problems for the eyes. In addition to this, seasonal allergies and lenses can also irritate the eyes.

The daily routine is largely affected by dry eyes. Activities like reading and playing get challenging for little kids. Sometimes burning, itchy and irritated eyes, along with constant blinking, interfere with focusing in the classroom. Responsible reasons for dry eyes in children include

  • Severe allergies
  • Continuous wearing of contact lenses
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Extended use of smartphones and other digital devices

Children cannot communicate their eyes related problems to their parents or doctors. They will rub their eyes. But parents should be vigilant enough to read their kid’s behavior and find out the underlying cause of such behavior.

Symptoms of dry eye syndrome in children

  • Frequent blinking
  • Redness around the eyes
  • Constant eye rubbing
  • Veering away from sources of light
  • Stinging or burning sensation in and around the eyes
  • Moments of blurred vision
