The World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2011 after the request was put forth by the International Network for the prevention of elderly abuse. It affects millions of elderly people around the world. Many elderly people are unable to voice out their concerns about the same and they remain quiet in fear suffering silently from it.
