Naroda’s BJP MLA Balram Thawani tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya, shared with the media. He is the third MLA after Jamalpur Khadia Congress MLA Imran Khedawala and Nikol BJP MLA Jagdish Panchal who is tested positive.
In Gujarat, the count of coronavirus cases crossed 18,000-mark with 485 new patients reported within the last 24 hours.

Reportedly out of the fresh cases, 290 in Ahmedabad alone. 30 new deaths were reported yesterday soaring the count to 1,122. The state health department said as many as 318 coronavirus patients also recovered yesterday.


Moreover, some 10,000 have already been discharged after 861 were released from hospital during a single day on Monday, 790 of whom were in Ahmedabad. Twenty-five succumbed to the virus, which includes 22 in Ahmedabad and two in Surat. Another fatality was reported from Aravalli.


Vadodara, that was pulsing with 1,086 cases, too reported the death of former Congress corporator of VMC, Manzoor Pathan, after being tested positive last week. The VMC is yet to audit and officially announce all deaths since May 7.
With the Ahmedabad total nearly at 12,500, 239 cases are reported from the rural jurisdiction, including 19 new cases on Monday.
While Surat added 35 more cases taking the total count to 1,659, 26 were discharged. A 108 emergency services paramedical staffer was among the discharged, from New Civil Hospital in Surat, was who tested positive on May 21. He had shifted over 150 COVID-19 positive patients from their homes to the New Civil Hospital in 108 ambulances.
