Guwahati worst affected by Coronavirus in Assam while Manipur betters recovery rate

COVID-19 tally in Assam has gone up to 13,336 with 588 new cases from Guwahati city alone in the last 24 hours. Of these, 4,988 people are currently active and 8,329 people have recovered from the infectious disease so far, as reported by guwahatiplus.com.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Assam stands at 16 with 2 more deaths reported yesterday.814 new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded from across the state, as per state health Minister's twitter update at 11:40 PM on July 7.

“Alert ~ 814 new #COVID19 cases detected today, 588 from Guwahati City Numbers are not encouraging. Self-control is critical,” tweeted the minister.Kamrup Metro happens to be the worst affected district in the state and is the new COVID-19 hotspot of the region. The district has been under a 14-day lockdown since 29 June.

Certain relaxations have been announced in Kamrup Metro for people to be able to procure essentials.

In Assam, the Health department has started mass testing at the Pandu area in Guwahati. Health workers are visiting house to house to conduct the Covid-19 test from today and are expected to conduct 3000 tests in 2 days.

In other news, the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients today reached 53.91 percent in Manipur after 37 people were discharged from hospital after recovery. The recovered cases have increased to 771 in the State now surpassing the number of active cases 659.

On the other hand, 40 people from different districts of Manipur have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last twenty-four hours. They are being shifted to the COVID Care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The total number of affected people in the state has risen to 1430 while the number of active cases stands at 659.

Meanwhile, the State government has decided to send adequate healthcare workers to Jiribam district where the number of positive cases of COVID-19 has suddenly increased. A meeting chaired by the State Chief Secretary decided to send healthcare workers including doctors to the district.

Moreover, a Care COVID entre will be opened at the district to give treatment to those affected by the virus.
Meanwhile, the Central Government today said, a total of 4,56,831 people affected with Coronavirus have recovered in the country so far. In the last 24 hours, 16,883 people have recovered from COVID-19 and with this, the recovery rate has reached 61.53 percent.

The Health and Family Welfare Ministry said a total of 22,752 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 7,42,417. In a single day, 482 deaths have been reported taking the nationwide toll to 20,642. Presently, the total number of active Corona cases in the country is 2,64,944.
