A conventional priest was arrested in Greece on Saturday after praising mass in a congregation, following the suspension of strict office requested by the nation during the coronavirus flare-up.
Metropolite Seraphim of Cipher island, off the Greek coast, had commended strict office on Friday night, in front of the Orthodox Easter festivals beginning on 19 April, referring to police sources.
After individual reprobations, the metropolite was met by the police on Saturday and was given a warning of the law.
He was discharged after being approached to follow the measures applied by the Greek government and the Church of Greece amid the coronavirus emergency.
