International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression-June 4th 2022

This day is organized every year on the 4th of June. To this day, people are educated about various types of violence against children in society, so that violence against children can be stopped. For this, all the offices and educational institutions, and non-government institutions organize many programs through which the society is made aware.

Every year on 4 June, the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is observed to acknowledge the pain that children around the world are suffering from. Many of these children are victims of physical, mental, and emotional abuse. It is also a day when the United Nations reaffirms its duty to protect the rights of children. 

Around the world, many children live in areas where war and conflict are part of their daily lives. About 50 million children have been displaced from their homes. When these children are displaced, it increases their vulnerability to violence and exploitation. Emotional, physical, sexual, and mental abuse is a reality that cannot be lied to for millions of children around the world.

 It is estimated that 200 million children are victims of sexual violence every year. It is mentioned on the United Nations website. A target has been set as per the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which aims to secure a brighter tomorrow for children. Its goal is to prevent violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect against children in all their forms. A worldwide campaign called #ACTtoProtect has also been launched by the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict to protect children affected by war.

Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

  • Violence has many forms. Violence against children can take many forms such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, emotional violence, negligence, abuse, etc.
  • The impact of violence in childhood remains on children's lives. You can see the effect of this in the behavior of children who have been victims of violence.
  • Due to this violence children feel emotionally weak and insecure about their identity.
  • The purpose of celebrating International Day for Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is to acknowledge the mental, physical and emotional suffering of these children and to spread awareness about the violence being done to them.
  • This day was started in 1985. Since then it is celebrated every year on 4th June. The day was first organized by the United Nations. Mainly the purpose of celebrating this day is to provide justice to the victims by reducing the harm caused by violence.

There are many countries in the world where violence is committed against children. Where children are less safe. The names of the countries which are included in that list are-

  3. Mozambique
  4. Vietnam
  5. China
  6. Argentina
  7. Nigeria
  8. Indonesia

Child abuse statistics according to the United Nations

According to the United Nations, there are many cases of child abuse in China. More importantly, China is one of the countries in the world where children are more victims of violence. Its statistics are astonishing.

  • Talking about the last two decades, it is known that there were more than two million children who died in the conflict.
  • 10 million child refugees are cared for by the United Nations Refugee Agency.
  • Every year about 80,000 children lose their lives in violence within families in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

New initiatives and laws were enacted in coordination with the United Nations to end and prevent violence against children around the world.

Under Nelson Mandela's leadership, children became a global force, a driving force for change. People from all over the world came forward and joined this movement. The campaign was titled "Yes to Children". The campaign was supported by more than 94 million people.

Most social workers raise funds for children who have been victims of abuse and violence and raise awareness by telling people about the violence that is taking place.

It is recommended to exercise our rights to promote change and to hold government offices accountable to people of different religions, genders, castes, and ideologies
