In Kerala, complete lockdown will be imposed from tomorrow till the 16th of this month. However, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured that the essential services will not be disrupted during the lockdown.
The State government had released elaborate guidelines regarding the statewide lockdown yesterday. State and Central government offices, excluding those under essential services, will remain closed from tomorrow.
Weddings that have already been scheduled can be solemnized. However, prior to the function, registration should be done in the COVID Jagratha Portal and the nearest police station should be informed. Only 20 people are allowed to take part and COVID guidelines should be strictly followed. In funeral rites and ceremonies, only 20 people are allowed.
Hospitals and related institutions in the health sector are permitted to function. Farming, horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry activities are also allowed. Ration and grocery shops, fruit and vegetable shops are allowed to function.
No shop will be allowed to remain open beyond 7.30 pm. Banks, insurance, and financial services will operate from 10 am to 1 pm. Press and media-related activities have not been curbed. Water transport and metros will not be operated during the lockdown. Distribution of goods and services will continue.
